Earth thought 229 of 365: Trust ... is beautiful. Politics seems almost ever without it, without real trust, emotional trust. In our lives, pragmatic trust reigns, and we seldom encounter the relational, emotional variety. How does this latter variety affect our relations with nature, if at all? Calm inside, because I am trusted, I linger over the day, rather than rushing through it.
Earth thought 230 of 365: Walking or running? Walking brings me closer to plants unfurling, to small spiders hopping. Running, however, makes me feel the exertion of the day --squirrels scrambling up a tree, deer pushing off ahead of dogs and people, the ever-intent bee.
Earth thought 231 of 365 : Can nanotechnology and genetic engineering help us repopulate our world with biodiversity once our currently caused mass extinction is largely complete? I don't know -nobody does now. What role is this idea playing? Is it a counter to despair? That seems hard to go, to me, since the worst news is that we are so thoughtless as to be destroying much if not most of life's current forms. Is the idea a rationalization for doing less to curb the extinction? Then it's bad news, isn't it, since it uses a wishful fantasy (as far as we presently know) as smoke and mirrors to deflect responsible action.
Earth thought 232 of 365 : Drivers. Rivers. Soundless. (Almost) Sun-siding. Immaterial. Polluting.
233 of 365:: Sprinklers. For kids -kids, especially. A use of abundant water in a world of plenty. Floods. Where infrastructure wanes and relief is spotty. The sadness with water as more vapor clears the air.
234 :: 365 : Color affects me like nature -viscerally altering my mood before I know it.
Earth thought 235 of 365 : I understood tonight why my Ohio cousins, growing up, always took showers before going to bed (rather than in the morning) -it was an ecological necessity given Cleveland humidity in the summer! By the end of the day, a layer of stickiness has settled well into one's pores. Only a shower seems a human way to cool down and go to bed relatively clean.
