348. Daily life

348.365: I'm waking up this morning concerned about philosophy. Or Philosophy -the discipline- which seems sometimes structurally incapable of promoting genuine philosophy. But I think I'm a small-town guy on this one. Things look different when one is in a living community, daily junk and all. And all -getting the kids to school, fixing plumbing, working on good communication with the one you love, all of that. Then wise guidance is philosophy -- not the big, abstract stuff. And yet the small things give way to the big, and the abstraction can be quite useful, perceptive and true in the midst of busyness or tension, or ambivalence caused by time compressing and emotions sloshing around in the rush. Then the systematic pursuit of knowledge can be quite helpful, a luminosity.

To position knowing, and to give it its circuit back toward wisdom, its pursuit needs to be in our ecology.
