And one form of approaching this is simple faith -what Allen Thompson, borrowing from Jonathan Lear, calls "'radical hope' for living well in a warmer world". Well, why not? It is better than hysteria. Another form of approaching goodness in a planet shaken by drought, desertification, dust storms, extreme weather events, starving refugees, resource wars, and flooded coastal cities is to rediscover humbling appreciation for Earth, for what it gave us, and still does, and for what it could begin to give us -somewhat- again should we nurture it. Call that "reverence". I wonder whether the death blow dealt our hubris by climate change will awaken reverence. Well it should -instead of hysterical fundamentalisms.
